I want to share with you how to make this easy Mason Jar Bottle. This is great idea to cut down on waste and a wonderful alternative to plastics. Let's get started!

First, what you'll need:

-A Scrap Piece of Wood

-Power Drill

-3/8'' Rubber Grommets (or whatever size you choose)

-3/8" Drill Bit (just make sure bit and grommet size are the same)

-One 32oz Mason Jar

-Sharpie

-A Reusable Stainless Steel Straw

First, fit your drill with the proper size bit. I used 3/8" after checking that my straw would fit through that size rubber grommet. You'll want to use the same size grommet and bit.

As a side note, these little grommets can be found at your local hardware store for a small amount of change.

Mark an "X" or dot on your lid where you'd like your straw to go through.

Using caution, place lid on top of a sturdy board and hold firmly while drilling through the lid. This is where I should tell you to protect your eyes, so yes, do that! Glasses or goggles are your pal. The wood keeps the metal a little more under control and smooth for the next step.

The next step being that once your hole is complete you'll need to squish and pull your rubber grommet into the hole. It may take a minute or two to get it situated, but hold steady, I promise it will fit. Again, use caution, the edges of the metal will be sharp, so be aware of your fingers or wear gloves for protection.

Once you've wiggled your grommet into place you're almost done.

All you do from here is place the lid on top your jar, screw the ring into place, and put your straw in. Although, it's probably a good idea to fill it with your favorite beverage first. Easy peasy!

Not only are these good for home and work, but you can bring them with you on the road and stop for sweet tea or cola when you fill up on gas.

Not only will you prevent waste, but most places give a discount on refills. Wee doggie!
