Campfire Perked Coffee

I think you all know that making coffee in a percolator is my favorite way to create the perfect pot. But, there is something even more delicious about perking it over a fire. Not to mention the fire I made in our back yard. My dad came over to enjoy the fire with me and decided to make a tripod so we could perk a pot on it.

A limb tripod is pretty easy to make. I would have taken photos but I was busy readying the coffee. Basically you choose 3 limbs that are of equal size and length. Try to find one that has a fork in it. Put you limbs together at the top, tucking them into the fork. Tie them together by weaving your cord between them and secure it with a knot. Pull them apart and there you have it.

Here is a little peek at what our evening looked like.

I had probably every song on this playlist go through my head during that evening, I think it might be one of the best campfire playlists ever created. Not that I'm biased or anything. Enjoy!

i am SO JEALOUS of these campfire posts lately! at the house i'm living in now, there's a metal fire pit in the backyard... but last summer it took an hour, three English majors, a psych major, a marine biology major, some alcohol-based hand sanitizer and one semi-destroyed bush just to create a fire for s'mores! hahaha!

ALSO what is Mr Owl there holding? sugar? love him!

I haven't tried making my own coffee on a fire yet. I will definitely be trying this, this summer!

@Jamie: When you're here, we'll make one together! I hope the smores you guys made were AWESOME. And yes, oh yes, it's holding sugar. It's one of my favorite kitchen things!

@Bekuh: Do it! I swear it tastes better - ps: your front porch sits look like a lot of fun!

@Sarah: That it was :]

I agree, it doesn't get any better than this. I love it.

I'll have to check out Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet. Thanks for that suggestion!
