Must Haves | For Coffee

If you know me at all, via my blog or in real life, you know that I LOVE coffee. I've been drinking coffee for as long as I can remember. My first cup was with my Dad and now one of my hobbies is to make the perfect cup. It's a bonding kind of drink and I'm not gonna lie, I make pretty great coffee. So if we invite you over to our house it goes without being said that you're going to get some coffee out of the deal. Always. Here are a few things that I must have in order to make my perfect cup!

A percolator. I have to warn you though, once you go percolator you never go back. You can totally tell when someone uses a drip and you can TASTE the paper. One word: ew.

Fresh mountain water. Not just any mountains, our Blue Ridge mountains.

Fair Trade coffee. Most of the local spots around here and especially Panacea use fair trade coffee. We will spend more on fair trade (which is usually better than the other stuff anyway) than something less expensive that was harvested at the expense of the laborers.

Organic sugar. It takes a little longer to dissolve but, it's SO much better!

Organic half and half - just the perfect amount.
And, the perfect coffee mug. I think half the experience of drinking coffee is influenced by the kind of mug you have. If you're not wild about your mug, the coffee isn't as good. We've been using our pottery mugs recently but it goes between those and our green enamel mugs too.

Me and my brother, Michael

There you have it! Those are my must haves for the perfect cup of coffee! It's always even better when sweet friends come over and bring something lovely and delicious to share!

Oh how I wish the organic sugar dissolved quicker! It's not cool to be at Starbucks and stir and stir and stir and stir and stir and stir... and then taste & it's not even sweet enough!
